My trip to Summerlin, Nevada (by Las Vegas)

Howdy Humans! You all know how much I love jumping in the "Daisy Mobile" and going with my Human Parents (HPs) to new places. Well, this time we went to a place I have been before as a puppy—Summerlin, Nevada.

Human Mom said she was going to do a "night run" along the Extraterrestrial Hwy.... I really don't know what that meant but I didn't care cause it meant I got to go for a car ride!

This was a really good car ride because my HPs "pimped" my ride with some new doggy comforts. Human Dad (HD) bought this little cover thing for the car. The only bad thing was I couldn't stick my face in the front seat and lick my HD's arm or anything. They liked it and so I guess I like it too.

Human Mom (HM) went to a home improvement store called "Lowes" and bought two thick pieces of mat (she called it "fatigue matting"). It made the back of the folded down seats soft and cushioned. I loved how comfortable it was and slept almost the entire car ride. I think I love riding in the car even more now!

We stayed at the Element (by Westin Hotels) again. This hotel is very doggie friendly and my HPs like it because it has comfy beds, a kitchen and close to a big grassy park where I can run around. I love that park. I found a tennis ball there and played with it on my last walk there.

I was at the Element when I was a puppy and HM was taking running coach classes. She was surprised that I remembered it. Yep, I walked through the sliding glass doors into the lobby like I owned that place! And when we got to the room, I jumped on the couch, bed and was very excited cause I like this place as much as my HPs do.

We had a great weekend together. The only thing I didn't like is when HD dropped HM off at some place I had never been before. We went back to the Element without her and I was worried about her all night. HD said she would be "fine" and she was with lots of other humans running during the night. I felt much better and soooooooo happy when we went to pick her up in the morning. She was tired, so I took a nap with her. After we woke up we went on an adventure to Red Rocks. HM got sandwiches and we went for a picnic. I had a lot of fun and the views were really pretty.

I gave this same trip 3.5 paws (4 being the best) when I was a puppy. I think that was because restaurant's in the Las Vegas area are still not very friendly to dogs. However, on this trip I want to give the Summerlin Park 4 paws and the Element 4 paws. They really made it all fun for me. As for Las Vegas area overall-- when they let doggies sit outside with their HPs to have dinner, then it will get 4 paws. Until then they only get 3.5 paws.

This is the new "cover" for the back seat my HD got. I can still see my HPs but I have this little barrier between the seats. No matter, I was super comfy and could sleep the whole trip.

Our Red Rocks picnic spot. That's my ear in the bottom left of the photo... and HD at the picnic table.
This was a shady cool place on a hot day.

Me on top of picnic table. Ha, ha HM... I got up here all by myself!

Me & HD at Red Rocks. I totally love him and he is making me smile!

Me and HM at Red Rocks. Isn't it pretty here?
HM says we'll come back next year too. Arf!

Four Paws for Moab!

I got to travel with my Human Parents (HP) to a place with big red rocks and lots of red dirt. We just got back home yesterday and I already miss Moab. I had lots of fun going for big walks and seeing some of my favorite Human Friends from Human Mom's (HM) running club. I just love Amy O, Renee and Kelly!

We stayed at the Comfort Inn Suites and they were really nice to me. They had a big grassy area in the back I could go potty on. I was very comfortable on HP's bed at night and slept so hard that I didn't worry about all the noises in the hallway at night. HM said that I must be special cause they didn't charge for me. I think this hotel might be second behind the Element in Las Vegas.

My favorite part of the trip was going to visit Castle Valley where I had my own area to sniff out deer tracks. HM looked for deer antlers for me but couldn't find any. She said that they are a doggie delicacy and so people probably pick them up and take them home for their dogs to chew on. I was bummed I didn't get a Castle Valley antler. HM took me for a long walk in Castle Valley. It was cloudy but there are very big red rocks all around Castle Valley and HM says that there are lots of trails on those rocks. People like to climb on the rocks too. HM says that we might come back in the fall so she can go running with lots of humans again. She will take me on one of those red rock trails. I can tell she likes it here. That's good because I do too and I want to come back here and look for antlers!

I really liked Moab. It would be super cool if Moab had a really big dog park like Napa had. HM says that she read that they are trying to get one. I hope they get one before my next visit.

Daisy Dog Review
Overall, I give Moab 4 paws. I had good company, a nice bed to sleep on and there were so many good smells and pretty rocks and places to see. I love traveling with my HPs and I especially like to go to the places they really like too.

Me and HD at Poison Spider Mesa. HD was looking for the Dinosaur tracks on the rocks. I was looking at the pretty red rocks cause I don't know what dinosaurs are.

Me and HM by he sign to the road that leads into Castle Valley.

HM was checking out messages from people on Castle Valley bulletin board. I was checking out big rocks again.

Going for a walk with HM in Castle Valley.

HM says this is my land and I can pee and pooh on it and not get in trouble.

It was nice to snooze on a comfy bed after a big day in Moab. I slept really good and I dreamt that I get to come back and find deer antlers and have a big yard to run around in.

I Can Hardly Wait!!

Hi Everyone!
I am really sorry that I haven't had any blog updates lately. My Humans haven't been able to take me on their trips because they were going on something called an "airplane". They said that I would not like it because I couldn't sit in the seat next to them and would have to ride in a scary place full of luggage. So when they are gone, my friends Tom and Jan watch me or either Human Mom (HM) or Human Dad (HD) stay home with me.

HM says that I will get to go on a trip in two weeks because they are driving the "Daisy Mobile" and I can stay with them at the hotel. We are going to a place called "Moab". HM says I will like it because I will get to go hiking (I love hiking!) and get to see Castle Valley where HM says I own 5 acres. I didn't even know about it, so I'm very excited to sniff it to see who has visited. HM says deer sometimes migrate across my land and they may have left me an antler to chew on. That will be so cool!

I can hardly wait to get in the Daisy Mobile and go! In the meantime HM and HD are taking me for lots of walks so I can go on big walks when I get to Moab. Soon I will get to tell you all about Moab. In the meantime, I want to share a couple of photos that HM took while we were hiking on my favorite trail (Overton trail) at Cave Creek Regional Park a couple weeks ago.

I love hiking here. It's so pretty and there are so many smells. If you look close you will see there is white stuff on the mountains. HM says that is called "snow". I've never seen that before!

HM and I run the trail and that's why my tongue is hanging out. We were running and she made me stop but I wanted to keep going. Right after she took my photo we started to run again. HM isn't as fast as me so I have to slow down for her. I still love her though.

Napa Trip Last Blog & My Daisy Dog Travel Review

See blogs below for more on my Napa trip.

On the way to Napa we stopped to take a potty break and we saw these BIG things. HM called them "Dinosaurs". The other stops along the way, were not so exciting but HM & HD always managed to find a spot with grass so I wouldn't be walking around on hot pavement.

I've also included a few photos that HM took while we were walking around downtown Napa. I loved all the grass and like to run and play in it.

And finally... the Daisy Dog Trip Review!
Napa gets 4.5 paws! Sonoma is only getting 3.5 paws because the city square has an unfriendly park with No Dogs Allowed signs everywhere. That's an automatic full paw off. I didn't see any of those signs in Napa, plus Napa has the best dog park ever (see my blog about Canine Commons)!

We stayed at the Napa Discovery Inn. They only charged an extra $20 a night for me (and we learned they prefer that in cash) without a huge deposit like other hotels in the area would have charged. Behind our room there was a grassy field which was convenient for HM & HD to take me when I needed to go potty. I am a very good dog when traveling and have never had an accident in a hotel room because my HM & HD have had easy access to a potty place. This is very important when picking a hotel when traveling with your dog. There was a big Mommy deer and her baby that were in the field on a couple occasions when I went out. Mom deer would make it clear to me that I was not to go play with her baby. She stomped her feet at me. The hotel room was conveniently located to downtown Napa and although not luxurious, they didn't seem to mind that I was there. The Element in Las Vegas is still my measurement for hotels so that's why Napa only gets 4.5 paws as the Napa Discovery Inn was not quite as luxurious as the Element but was about the same price.

When traveling with me, my HP sometimes have to forego eating out. We ate at WholeFoods Market both in Sonoma and Napa for most meals as my Humans like the healthy take out meals and they have tables outside with a bowl of water for dogs. However, they had a very nice lunch at the Rutherford Grill and I got to lay under their table. There was another dog on the patio area as well. I highly recommend this place for humans to go and enjoy a nice meal when traveling in Napa-Sonoma area with a dog.

We also went to V. Sattui Winery for lunch after HM ran the Napa to Sonoma half marathon. We met her running friends there and I sat next to the big picnic table under shady trees. I would also recommend this as a dog friendly place. HM says the wine was very good too. They also have a big barbecue area where you can get all sorts of cool human meals.

Napa got "high paws" because overall there are lots of dog places to go, lots of grass, shady trees, places to eat with my humans and, of course, the coolest dog park (Canine Commons).

Me & HD by the City Hall sign. Note the nice green lawn was one of my favorite places to go potty.

Yum! I love eating Napa grass. Tastes better than fake Phoenix grass.

Some art thing in downtown Napa. They have lots of cool art things to look at.

Uptown theatre in Napa. They had lots of cool human entertainment scheduled. The week after we left, Lyle Lovett was playing. If you are traveling with your dog and want an evening out, there are lots of doggy sitting places that charge a small fee to watch your dog during the day. There were cards at Canine Commons for these services.

Ahhh.... nothing like a little cool grass under your feet when you need to take a potty break.
Note to Humans: Always carry little poo bags to pick up after your dog. Places are more dog friendly when dog owners are responsible.

HD & me next to some strange creature thing called a "dinosaur" during a stop on way to Napa.

At the Napa Half Marathon Expo

I went with my Human Parents to Cornerstone Gardens so HM could pick up her running number and stuff for her half marathon. This place had funny little pieces of "art" in different garden areas. I preferred just laying on the grass next to HD.

While we were there some of HM's running friends showed up and I was not very nice to them at first because I didn't know them. I met Darris in Las Vegas but I wasn't sure it was her so I kinda snipped at her (HM said that I was "bad" and I will be getting some training on being nicer to people that want to pet me). After I realized it was her, I felt bad and wanted her to be my friend. She ignored me though— so I had to try and charm her with puppy love to get her to pet me. It didn't take long and Darris is my friend again.

Me and some funny garden art.

Darris trying to ignore me.

Hah! That didn't last long!

I went to Napa!

Hi everybody! Sorry I'm so late updating my blog from last weekends trip to Napa, California. Human Mom (HM) needed to get all my photos off the camera and it took her awhile. She says there are too many photos for just ONE Napa blog so I'm going to break it up into 3 different blog entries. Hopefully, I'll get them all done along with my Daisy Dog Trip Review during the weekend.

I wanted to first blog about my most favorite part of Napa—Canine Commons Dog Park. This by far is the coolest dog park I've been to and I had so much fun running around with other dogs. I went there every morning we were in Napa. Human Dad (HD) took me there when my HM was running a half marathon and I ran my own half marathon! The park has lots of cool stuff for dogs. Trees, big fields (HM said they were "acres") play pools, tennis balls, agility obstacles and really cool Napa local dogs. I don't think we need to wait for my total trip review to give Canine Commons 5 paws!

Look at me go! I could run around in this huge fenced in area as much as I wanted. Those green things along the fence are something the humans called "wine grapes". I wanted to run in them too, but apparently Humans don't want me peeing amongst the grapes.

Me and HD by the grapes. I'm panting from running around so much.

This is my BFF at Canine Commons. Her name is Abbey. HM said I'm part Corgi, which is what Abbey is. Abbey has short little legs but she is SUPER fast and we had fun playing together.

Yep! I have some Corgi in me!

Here's the gate to Canine Commons. Once you get through the gate, your home free! You can run around as much as you want!
